Main Article Content
Abstract
India, strategically located in the Indo-Pacific, plays a crucial role in ensuring maritime governance, regional stability, and economic security. As a key global and regional player, India’s maritime strategy is critical for maintaining good order at sea, safeguarding its national interests, and strengthening its influence in the Indo-Pacific region. However, despite its geostrategic significance, India’s maritime potential remains underutilized, necessitating a comprehensive approach that integrates security and economic priorities. This paper provides an in-depth, comprehensive analysis of India’s maritime security framework and the evolving role of its blue economy through the lens of sustainable development theory. It explores how tenets of India’s blue economy contribute to sustainable ocean-based economic activities and contribute to India’s economic growth while preserving marine ecosystems. By examining the key tenets of the blue economy, the study highlights the challenges India faces in nurturing its ocean economy. The analysis underscores the urgent need for India to synchronize India’s maritime security with the blue economy.
