Mr. S. Ramaraju is an accomplished academician, researcher, and trainer with over 18 years of experience in English language education, academic leadership, and interdisciplinary research. He currently serves as Assistant Professor and Deputy Head in the Department of English at AMET University, Chennai, India. In addition, he holds key administrative roles as Director of the Centre for Outreach Programs (CoP) and Deputy Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). He is also an active member of numerous university-level committees including the UGC Quality Mandates Action Committee, NAAC Framework Committee, Gender Audit Committee, and Calendar Committee.
Mr. Ramaraju holds an M.A. in English from Loyola College, Chennai, an M.Phil. in English with Distinction from Anna University (CEG, Guindy), and has qualified the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English Literature. His research expertise spans Maritime Cultural Studies, Indigenous Literature, Blue Humanities, English Language Teaching (ELT), and AI-enhanced learning.
A prolific writer and scholar, Mr. Ramaraju has published in Scopus-indexed journals, including multiple forthcoming articles in the Journal of Maritime Research. His works explore maritime storytelling, intercultural narratives, seafarer welfare, AI in education, and sustainability. He has presented over ten papers at national and international conferences across India, Malaysia, and Europe, covering themes such as decolonial maritime imagination, gender and identity in Native American fiction, and integrating “Blue Literature” into maritime education.
He has authored and co-authored several book chapters, including publications in volumes indexed by OpenAIRE, RRRNA (Ministry of Education), and international academic publishers. He also serves as a Teaching Assistant for NPTEL courses at IIT Madras, including "Poetry" and "Literature and Life," and has completed elite-level NPTEL certifications in Sociolinguistics, Body Language, and ELT methodologies.
Mr. Ramaraju is a life member of ISTE, ELTAI, and ELST Asia (India), and a member of IATEFL, Asia-TEFL, and IEEE-PCS. He has delivered expert lectures and training sessions on employability skills, NEP 2020, healing narratives, leadership communication, and digital storytelling in pedagogy. He has led and coordinated major academic and outreach events including the AMET Global Maritime Summit and the Anti-Ragging Awareness MahaUtsav.
His ongoing seed-funded research at AMET University examines the perceptions of online learning among teachers and students. He is also the Principal Investigator of a published patent on adaptive language proficiency testing. Mr. Ramaraju's holistic commitment to education, research, outreach, and institutional development exemplifies his dedication to enriching maritime humanities, language learning, and intercultural scholarship.
