Review of the Nautical Sector in Andalusia

Abstract

Andalusia is a region in southern Spain with almost a thousand kilometers of coastline on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Previous research has pointed out that it would be interesting to address the question of the sustainability of marinas and the drivers for sustainable growth of this market in Andalusia. In order to fill this gap, this paper aims to answers two important research questions: What is the current situation of the nautical sector in Andalusia? And what is the future of Andalusian marinas? Firstly, the paper will shed light on the main characteristics of the nautical sector in the region and the drivers of market growth. Secondly, a theoretical framework will be proposed to determine the future need for moorings in different scenarios.
