Resumen

Nowadays Spanish ports work in a very competitive and changeable environment, in fact, the experience and knowledge of the employees are not the only elements to be considered by them. It appears a new concept known as "Emotional Intelligence" which has shown to be a very useful method to improve employee productivity, generating competitive advantages. Therefore it essential the Human Resources performance to do a good recruitment and selection of staffs based on the recognition of the emotional intelligence as another element for detecting and developing talents.

Present principal research interests in Maritime Safety: - Port State Control; and the Globalization in the Maritime Transport and its implications in Shipping and Logistics. - Trends in the Global market for crews and MLC'2006 implementation - Safety and specific risks in the artisanal fishing fleet.
